我想念妳媽媽

A friend of mine who I had been working on some music with gave me his final product today, just in time for Christmas. One of the songs that we recorded on the CD is called "我想念妳媽媽", by Bill Parkinson. I believe it is the theme from a movie called "Mother of Mine", a Finnish film (I could be wrong). I've been singing the song for as long as I can remember, always with Musquito playing the piano and singing the harmony while I "guest starred" in singing the melody. More recently than ever, it's hard for me to sing through the entire song without coming to tears. I have been on my own since I left for university at the age of 18. Over the past 7 years I've thought about the years that I was living with my mom and never really appreciated the fact that we could just live normally together under one roof. I always took her for granted. How great would it be if I could live with her again, even if it's just in the same city. The words of the song always hit the soft spot in my heart.

As a teenager I was never really willing to go to Church with my mom. Now I often think about how much she must have prayed for me to someday become a woman who loves God and walks alongside him. Amazing how years after she left the church to return to Taiwan to be by my father's side, God would answers her prayers. I can see myself growing into a woman a lot like her, outside and inside the church. The love and care she gave to those who needed help lasts till today. That love has endured and it often gets circulated back to me within the church ;o) My mothers is so strong-willed, ever resilient, ever enduring, and ever loving to those around her. I thank God everyday that he gave me a mother like her. I thank God for through her he planted a seed in my heart. A seed that has finally sprouted from the frozen ground after all those years. God does answer prayers, even if it takes 7, 8, 10 years...
