When I was a teenager, I didn't understand how one could love God more than anything and anyone else. I remember thinking the idea as being quite ridiculous. Then when I first becoming more serious about my faith, I prayed to God to give me a heart that would love him more than anything else, as Christians are called to do. But it is not until recently, and today in particular (there may have been days before this), that I feel the great love I have for God in my heart. Yes, it is a great kind of love. I love God like nothing else and no one else. In singing a hymn today - Before the throne of God above - I was so touched by its melody and words. I thought about how much he loves me, how he died for me and his blood washed away all my sins. It is so liberating to love God with all my heart and all my soul. In loving and trusting him I want to give myself completely to him. And in amazement I see my commitment to him reflected in the changes in my life - my thoughts, my conduct, the way I live, the decisions I make. Now I am grounded in Christ, from whom which my life radiates. There is no emptiness in my heart, just the longing to know and love God more. Of course, there are still things that I hope for in my heart, but now my hope lies within my trust of God's providence. I feel like I am Home. And Home is wherever God lives.

What once was hurt
What once was friction
What left a mark
No longer stings
Because Grace makes beauty
Out of ugly things
