Some thoughts :)

Wow, it's been a while since I've blogged.  I remember when I started this blog more than a year ago I was writing in it nightly - I had been very eager to know God.  Things have definitely changed.  Don't get me wrong.  I still love and am very eager to know God better each day, but I feel like now I have a better foundation of faith - one that has been slowly built up over the last years.  In my life, many things have happened to me, and to those around me.  Through thick and thin, I am more confident (though some day more than others!) that God's steady hand is always leading and guiding me.

On Saturday we studied 1 Peter in C&C.  One passage that particularly struck me was this, "though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials.  These have come so that your faith - of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire - may be proved genuine and may result in praise, glory and honour when Jesus Christ is revealed."  It's true, how can our faiths grow if we sail through life ever-so-smoothly?

In the past couple of weeks, my faith has really had to be tested.  At times, I felt so hopeless and frustrated that I even wondered if God really existed.  My roomie said that she never doubts God's existence, but she sometimes wonders why he remains silent in troubling times.  Despite of my bleh-ness and lack of enthusiasm to pray, I still did.  Perhaps because I knew it was my only option in times like these.  So, I did.  I prayed fervently, and asked those close to me to pray for me for I was not well.

I can't say that the problem has been solved, for we don't pray to God because we want to be rewarded, but we love and trust him, and know that he is in control of our lives (ultimately).  I can say that I feel like my faith has, through this experience, grown by more than just a little.  God has granted me peace, and reminded me to pray in my worry-ladened states of minds.  I am able to (and I had to, otherwise I think I would've gone nutso!) lay my burdens at the foot of Christ.  And strangely, while I was praying the other day, I suddenly felt so thankful for all that I had.  Sure, there are a lot of troubles in my life, but I have been blessed with so much as well!  I felt that the Spirit had come to touch my heart... a feeling both weird, yet wonderful - to be grateful (and truly, full-heartedly grateful) in times of trials.  I was reminded of in Acts when Peter and the other prisoners were singing songs of joyful praise while they were locked u...

I've many thoughts on how much God loves me, has (and is continuously) transformed me, and been there for me when I desperately needed him.  I will try my best to keep up the bloggin' and save all that for another day when I haven't just had a glass of wine with dinner and am feeling extremely sleepy ;oP

G'nite!
