Today was not a particularly good day. I had a good morning and shared a wonderful lunch with a friend who just got engaged. I must say that I feel truly happy for her and her fiancee :) The afternoon didn't go so well. I got carried away with a conversation online and neglected my modeling, which was giving me inconsistent results. Then I didn't head for the swim I planned on doing because I once again forgot my lock combination.
I had many things on my mind tonight. Past pains, present troubles, confused feelings. In the past I probably would have done many things about it. But tonight, the calm of God is with me. He has spoken to me about the brokenness of the world, and opened my eyes to see the injustice that seeps throughout the world like a invisible dark force. You are likely to find it anywhere. Why do feel angry about a situation happening to a friend or a relative, when we can go for days without thinking about all the poverty and abuse that is well known to go on daily throughout the world? What can we do about it all? What can I do about it? Should I always make my feelings known? Is there a critical moment, like in the movies, where you are given that one last chance to tell someone how you feel before he marries somebody else. Or should I keep silent?
In the midst of all these thoughts and jumbled emotions, I remembered the sovereignty of God. He spoke his calming words to me again. And he reminded me that when we are not sure what to do, the first thing we do is to pray. And from God comes wisdom to know what to do. Before prayer, also refrain from doing anything rash. After all, not only do I have to trust God with my life, but I also have to trust God to be with others in my life. As he guides me, he will also guide them. Thank you God, you are and always will be sovereign.
