I love the rain

While getting ready for bed tonight, it started to rain. It didn't sound like the normal, dreary rain driven by gravity, pounding on the paved roads. Rather, it sounded wonderfully refreshing, like leaves rustling in the wind, like a million tiny pearls dropping on the ground and bouncing back up again. Rain had never sounded so good to my ears, and never ever been so smoothing to my soul. I opened the blinds and the window to let the breeze in. I couldn't see the rain fall because it was dark, but I could hear it so clearly. Jesse jumped up on the window ledge and I knelt by the window to take in that moment of peace and assurance. I thought about how I had been caught up in mixed up emotions for a while tonight, and was amazed by the power of God that he used the rain to remind me of his sovereignty. If the Lord wills it, it rains, just like that! How amazing are God's ways ;) The rain also reminded me of the washing away of sins, past and present, of the new life in Christ that we are promised, of a renewal, of God's mercy, forgiveness, and love. Praise be to the Father!

What left a mark
No longer stings
Because Grace makes beauty
Out of ugly things
