Today was a lovely Monday. My gym class got canceled to my relief, because soon after I got up I discovered that my arms and torso were extremely sore from having gone gung-ho on the tug-o-war the day before. I did my devotion, a little work, and after lunch fit in a small nap after reading on the couch by the window with the cats cuddled at my feet. Then we headed to a friend's place to make posters for a church yard sale in the afternoon, before which I indulged on an order of small fries from McDonald's, muahahaha!
The time at Sally's was relaxing. Though I never thought myself as artistic, I managed to produce four posters (more than anyone else due to my speedy nature at completing tasks, at which I was both teased about and laughed at myself for) that actually looked alright. We shared light conversation, and enjoyed some OT readings from Mr. A. How nice it is to share time with friends while working to help out with the church! Plus, Sally's mom fed us with many delicious snackeroos!
I headed to a meeting for vacation bible school after Sally's at St. Mary's. Though I will admit that I am not that passionate about teaching children, I found myself feeling privileged to have the chance to participate in the work of the church community and meeting people I would normally not have the chance to talk to. I was pleasantly surprised by the musical talents of the young curate and was inspired by the way he has chosen to use his gifts to serve the Lord and his children (literally!).
Feeling restless and wanting to do something tonight, I ended up spending a lot of time with my guitar and semi learning a praise and worship song I had been listening to. I am amazed at how much wanting to praise and worship God motivates me to play the piano and guitar, even if it's only simple chords. But perhaps compared to the Lord's magnificence, it doesn't make a difference if we are beginners or Beethoven? Then I spent the night chatting with my sister online while listening to the long-awaited Walter B. lecture CD I had borrowed from Regent. Ah! Life is so good when you get to do things you enjoy.
No deep reflections today :) But in retrospect, the day was really full of God's blessings. It felt like a summer vacation day, almost like a sabbath day. I didn't feel the pressure of having to do anything, but had the pleasure of enjoying many of the small (but delightful!) things in life. Thanks God for your faithfulness and goodness!
