Interested In Jesus

Why are we called Christians?  Well, it's because we believe that Jesus is the Son of God, who was sent to this world for the atonement of our sins.  We are also called Christians because we are to follow Jesus, to be his disciples.  There was a time when I felt like I didn't really know Jesus, that the God I prayed to always felt more like the OT God, our "Father in Heaven".  I read Philip Yancey's "The Jesus I never knew" a few years ago and was able to gain a better understanding of who Jesus was (and is!).  Recently, I've been thinking that as Christians we are called to live the radical life that Jesus lived.  In this world so full of confusion, with so many voices telling us what is right, what is wrong, and how we should think, I want to go back to Jesus' way.  So, I am going to read the gospels again, starting with Matthew.  Yup, I want to find out more about Jesus.  And with the help of the spirit, regain a sense of understanding of what Christians are truly called to do.

What left a mark
No longer stings
Because Grace makes beauty
Out of ugly things
