Thank you for Brothers and Sisters

Today was Byron's 31st Birthday. And although he claimed that he was not proud of his age, I would argue differently. Of course, I often joke about how "old" I'm getting. I think back to when I was 19, remembering that time like it was yesterday. At the same time, I feel like I have changed and grown so much since then. Like wine, the more we age the better we become. All of our hurts and pains have made us stronger, and taught us to be thankful of the million other wonderful little things we have in our lives. I think of the story in the bible of the potter and the clay. How we are the clay and God is the potter. Throughout our lives he shapes and molds us into his desire, if we surrender ourselves to him. We can also think of ourselves as the wheel that spins the clay, when we work in the lives of others to help them become the people they are. All this happening under God's ultimate control. Going back to the age issue, I do miss being young at times, because it felt like the world was my oyster. But back then I didn't know God's love as I do now, and I am much happier to be in the place that I am than I was ever before.

Sharing good food and matters of the hearts with friends tonight, I felt amazed by the love of God. How he has surrounded me with brothers and sisters in Christ so that in a country where I have not a single blood relative, I hardly feel lonely. These days, I forget what it feels like to be lonely. I suppose God knew my heart, of the loneliness that I felt, being on my own and trying to make it as an 'independent woman' for the past 3 years. He has filled my life with friends, his spirit filled the hole inside my heart. He filled my heart with the warmth of his heart so now it beats with a passion for him. I find that lately I look forward to the hour of prayer, the time spent on devotion. I have a zest to know what God is going to tell me today. I'm on a God high and I hope I never come down!

Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!
that calls me from a world of care,
and bids me at my Father's throne
make all my wants and wishes known.
In seasons of distress and grief,
my soul has often found relief,
and oft escaped the tempter's snare
by thy return, sweet hour of prayer!

Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!
the joys I feel, the bliss I share
of those whose anxious spirits burn
with strong desires for thy return!
With such I hasten to the place
where God my Savior shows his face,
and gladly take my station there,
and wait for thee, sweet hour of prayer!

Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!
thy wings shall my petition bear
to him whose truth and faithfulness
engage the waiting soul to bless.
And since he bids me seek his face,
believe his word, and trust his grace,
I'll cast on him my every care,
and wait for thee, sweet hour of prayer!

What left a mark
No longer stings
