Neither Angels or Animals

There are some things that I believe God has given humans because he wants us to experience life as fully as possible. Our God is not a boring God, he's awesome, inspirer of Shakespeare, Picasso, of Rachmaninoff Whether humans realize it or wish to acknowledge it, God is the source of life, all wonderful and beautiful things came from him. He is creative, he is humorous, he is artistic, I always think that God would be an awesome engineer. In fact he would be a pretty awesome anything (actually not just pretty, but damn awesome!). I bet God is impressed with the extravagance of Carnival (de Brazil). I bet that he looks on, with gentle and cherishing eyes (and "awww" in his heart), the first kiss between a pair of young lovers. I think God even laughs at the silliness of college students in their drunken stupor (am I going too far here?).

Is it wrong of me, to think of God as one way? To think of God as the God that I want him to be, rather than the God who just IS? Maybe. But I believe God is good, and he has given me a mind to think, to make intelligent and wise choices. His wisdom and love never cease. God has made us not to live rigid, but roller coaster-ly lives! He has also granted me a heart full of passion. A heart that longs to love, a heart full of love. He gave me a heart to love a lot, but also hurt a lot. He gave me emotions as deep as the sea, and I thank him. Because without being in the depths of hell, one would not know the ecstasy of being in heaven. Without knowing deep (sharp!) pain, there can be no knowing of the opposite - an extreme joy and happiness, of which your heart feels like its flying! Action equals reaction, Newton was a Christian too =) God has made us fully human. We are not angels, we are not perfect and we have our humanly thoughts. But, we are not animals as we detest the crimes committed by some which we consider "animals acts". I want to embrace my full humanness. That means feeling all there is to feel. Taking chances, and not being fearful of falling when we do make mistakes. Love fully and passionately, being head over heels in love. Fight for your beliefs, even if it means breaking a few traditions and upsetting (upset not hurt) a few others. Help those in need, take action, rather than saying "Oh trust God, he will show them the way". Buddy, maybe you are God's instrument of aid!

If we are faithful to the LORD, he is there beside us, guiding and steering us in the right direction. We just have to listen to him carefully. He gave us free will, so we don't have to get up each morning and say "God, should I have a bagel or toast for breakfast, show me your way!" I will not hide behind the mask of God, but rather show others my true self in him, how he made me, and how he wants me to make known to others all my quirky ways.

So thank you God. For you have made me fully human. My name is Debbie Lin, and I like red wine. I like kissing my sweetheart. I like discussing the details of my love life with my girlfriends, and feeling that good old rush run through my head :o)

No longer stings
