The loveliness of not being busy

So far, this term has been pretty relaxed one for me. I am taking two engineering courses at UBC and one class at Regent, totally up to about 10 hours (or less) of class each week. Academically, things really haven't gotten that busy yet, and as a result I have a lot of free time to do whatever I want ;o)

And with all this free time on my hand, I can honestly say that I am truly grateful to God. Yesterday afternoon, I was invited over to a family friend's house to meet her cousin, who was visiting from the the US. Before I knew it, tea and brownies turned into watching "Arthur and his missing Pal" with 4 year old Jesse, hide and seek with the little guy and his sister Anabelle. In the end, I ended up staying for dinner as well. Driving back home, I was amazed that I was able to do this on a Tuesday afternoon. When I was working, I hardly had time to catch a breath between getting home, cooking dinner for myself, before pushing on to the 'evening' activities that I had planned for myself (because I didn't want my days to just consist of work). I hardly would have had the time to develop the personal relationships in my life that I actually have a chance to do now! The same goes with my girlfriend and her baby girl. I am so grateful that I get to spend a few hours with mommy and baby each week, and all during this oh-so-precious time in baby's life. I realized that this is what is important in life - those personal relationships. And these are not to be pushed off, put off as something we're "too busy to have time for". I believe no matter how busy we are, there's always time to socialize! ;o) Our friends are a gift from God. And I want to cherish every chance that I have to spend time with them.
