May 7, 2008

I've been gone so long that I had to sign in to get to the dash port of my blog. Life has been busy, and I felt the inspiration to write about God and my relationship with him dwindle with the increasing number of courses to take, assignments to do, and social activities to attend. Daily devotions have been read in bed instead of at my desk, and prayers have been said under the covers instead of on the floor in front of the flicker of my praying candle. I felt myself drifting away this afternoon, from Christ, my focus on him overshadowed by other things, other people, in my life. The journey of faith is a challenging one, and the devil is constantly plotting to pray you away from being close to God. How I love God, and how I long to be close to him (or closer) like I used to feel.

Despite of all that's been happening, God has been faithful. As always, he's spoken to me through others, in a way that makes me think, "Oh, there's a reminder from him that I hadn't been expecting". It's time again to take that road less traveled...

What once was hurt
What once was friction
What left a mark
No longer stings
Because Grace makes beauty
Out of ugly things
