Today was such a beautiful day. As I walked to the pool this afternoon, despite my moodiness I couldn't help but let out a sigh of wonder of just how beautiful God made this world. The sun shining, the ocean in front of me, the fresh breeze just at the right temperature. I could taste the new spring on the tip of my toe.. beautiful!
God is so good. In times of restlessness, he always delivers to me his peace and joy - even if they are momentary and soon overtaken by my worries and anxiety - they are enough to carry me through, and enough to remind me that God is there, faithfully accompanying me.
Today's reading in "40 Days in God's Blessing" really touched me. The author talked about Hosea's adulterous wife, and how her unfaithfulness continues to break his heart over and over again. Yet, in the end God commands Hosea to return to his wife Gomer, to love her despite of her sins. In the public square where his wife ended up to be auctioned off, haggard and hopeless, Hosea made the bid to claim her back - despite of what she's repeatedly done to him. God chooses his prophets to exemplify his own (God's) character. The Israelites had repeated turned their backs on God, chasing after other Gods and disobeying the one who had chosen them. Yet, God's love for them remains. He love for them is so great that he is willing to take them back at whatever cost. An excerpt from the devotion:
"No pain, no gain" is rarely a welcome truth - in marriage, in families, in friendships, or even in theory. Broken hearts want instant mending. Broken lives want instant healing. And as a result, many never experience the blessing of unfailing love, simply because they throw in the towel too quickly.
.....
Perhaps you are that worn-out piece of humanity. Weary, broken, disillusioned, ashamed - the circumstances don't matter. With the tenderness of a loving mother or father, God picks you up and carries you to his "intensive care," where he wants to nurseyou back to health. He will wait as long as it takes, in the hopes that you will wake up - and experience for yourself the life he wants to give you."
Amen.
