Love

There is nothing quite like being in love with God. As someone who has taken the windy path in way of romantic relationships, who due to selfish desires and lack direction has had to endure many heartaches, I feel like I've finally found what I'm looking for in Jesus Christ. Don't get me wrong, I think being in love with a man is a wonderful thing. But yet....the feeling of loving God full-heartedly is so much better. I suppose I shouldn't use the word "better", but rather that loving God is so much more fulfilling and peace-giving. You feel it at the core of your being - like the spirit of God blowing like wind a concentric circle radiating outwards on beach of fine sand (I can't make the description much prettier unfortunately...).

The fellowship went to Laser Tag today. I had never played before and wasn't quite looking forward to it. I have never been good at games like James Bond or counter-strike - they often just make me dizzy. To my surprise, I had a great time and did well. We all went to bubble tea afterwards and looking around me, I just felt so much love and care towards this group of people. Seeing everybody together and building relationships with each other, my heart was warmed. When I drove a few of the younger kids home, a sense of deep peace came over me. I was listening to a worship CD and "All I need is You" by Hillsong came on - and I was just completely captivated by its simple yet profound lyrics - All I need is you LORD! I simply dwelled (and I still dwell) in the love of Christ, and in a state of trance more comforting and awesome than I ever knew.

I believe the state of the human heart is always going to be lonely. Even when we are surrounded by friends and family, an emptiness resides within us. This can only be filled by the love for Christ, and knowing his love. When we fall in love, or take a step at trying out a relationship, we put ourselves at risk of getting hurt. There is a profound sadness in knowing that the world is in a broken state due to our sins and the sins of others. In human relationships, there is bound to be hurt. In loving God, he will never ever hurt us. His love for us is perfect, even if our love for him is less than perfect. How great it is to find our self worths in Christ, how great it is to have an intimate relationship with him. I used to long to be loved, and to love. And now, I am, and I do.
