God does not belong in a box

A certain feeling has crept up upon my heart, one which I am not sure what to make of. After all this time, I have learned that my feelings are not to be trusted, that they can be rather fleeting. Yet, I want to be true to the way I feel. When I experience hurt, time is needed for Jesus to slowly heal me (and in the midst of my suffering, my faith is refined, like gold in fire).

Many thoughts danced in my head tonight, of which I wanted to pray about. In my devotion time, I looked forward to perhaps a word from God about these thoughts that I pondered. I was disappointed to find the messages and scripture readings somewhat unrelated. But then, I felt the prompting of the Holy Spirit. God reminded me that we are not to put him in a box, that we do not study the scriptures in hopes that we'll find some sort of "solution to our problem". God is bigger than that, and maybe for now what he wants to say to you is indeed in the scriptures that you read today. If we (well, if I) read the scriptures scouring for some sort of answer to our 'latest' problem, then we are merely using God as a tool, but not receiving him as the great teacher who wishes to tell us certain things. I thank God for his reminder of this fact, and am again humbled. The LORD knows us better than we know ourselves. Look to Jesus, and the rest 'shall be given unto you as well' ;) Amen!
