Today was my second day volunteering at UGM. As I boarded the #16 bus I realized that I had taken the wrong UPass with me. Flustered, I explained to the busy driver what happened, half expecting him to ask me to pay anyways. Luckily, he told me to go ahead and sit down. Thank God :)
When I got to UGM, I found out that the lady who usually leads worship was sick today. So when they asked if anybody played piano, I bravely volunteered. The guitarist and I had to go through quite a few songs before we decided on a few that we both knew. As I played, I made many mistakes, and a lot of the times couldn't keep up with singing and playing at the same time. But I heard the ladies sing out loud and clear, and felt privileged that I actually had the chance to play piano.. wow.. in a worship service!
I spent the rest of the afternoon chatting with the ladies around the room, and just getting to know everybody's names. I'm terrible with names and usually had to ask the same person several times before finally getting their names right. Thankfully, everybody was understanding of my forgetfulness. On the way back, I got onto the #10, having just missed the #16. I thought I probably would have to pay for my ride back, but when I got onto the bus, the driver said "Free ride today!". God, you always provide :)
So I just wanted to share this quick reflection of my afternoon at UGM.. but mostly how I felt God taking care of me, yet again, as I made my way there and back. I find myself thinking of the ladies. What are they doing now? Are they well? Warm? Safe? Fed? I guess I won't know.. but I pray that the spirit will continue to work in these ladies' lives, and I hope that we will continue to bring each other hope and encouragement in the future.
