I feel like I am on a climb to another spiritual plateau. It's somewhat exciting. After a period of spiritual dryness I have once again come to focus on God, holding a deeper sense of peace than ever before.
A realization I've come to is that my trust is God is vital to my spiritual life. I hesitate to word the previous sentence the way I have, because it makes trust in God sounds like some sort of drug to how good spiritually I feel - very self-centered use of language indeed. Rather what I mean is, that being a follower of Christ is surrendering to God your all, and trusting him with all the unknowns (and knowns) of your life. I recall a verse from one of the gospels (or is it one of Paul's letters?) that tells us to 'not worry about anything, but pray about everything'. If only my mind and heart could be at that place. Oh how I wish my trust in the LORD is unchangingly unfailing. But I first need to trust him more than I trust myself, which is a difficult task!
Little by little though, I am making progress. Over the past few months, I have seen how the trust I have in God, however pathetic and little it might have been, have all bore fruit in my life, honest! (If you want me to be specific, ask me....). My trust in the LORD has led me to some pleasant surprises, and from some pretty dark places. When my heart begins to stray, and my mind wants to tune back in with the practicalities and dogmatic ways of the secular world, I remember to trust in God. I believe that he's calling me to be patient, and along the way of which I walk with him (at his pace!), he has only prepared the best for me.
