From this time many of his disciples turned back and no longer followed him. "You do not want to leave too, do you?" Jesus asked the Twelve. Simon Peter answered him, "Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. We believe and know that you are the Holy One of God." - John 6:66-69
Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent. We are reminded of God's grace and mercy in his forgiveness of our sins. We are called to repent, and to be washed clean of our transgressions. We give up our lives to following Christ, we love him like no other, and we place him above all else. Tonight, there is a burning desire in my heart to be close to God, and to love him. Suddenly I am awakened by the realization that this burning desire in my heart to know God, and the unspeakable joy radiating from the pit of my stomach that is (indeed!) my love for Christ. This feeling, the sensation of God's presence and his love - what a wonderful gift from him! May I treasure the exhilaration while it lasts, so that later when it is no longer with me (this "feeling") and Jesus asks "You do not want to leave too, do you?", then I would remember and say "Who else can I go to? You are the way and the truth (of the Father) and there is none other like you".
Into your hand
I commit again
with all I am
for you Lord
you hold my world
in the palm of your hand
and I'm yours forever
Jesus I believe in you
Jesus I belong to you
you're the reason that I live
the reason that I sing
with all I am
I'll walk with you
wherever you go
through tears and joy
I'll trust in you
and I will live
in all of your ways and
your promises forever
I will worship I will worship you forever
